Who am I?
I am Karan Patel the hand behind this site where I will share my journey of painting with everyone! So I cordially invite you to join me on my journey of becoming a well-recognized artist. I am currently living in Mumbai, India pursuing my hobby and turning it into a career. I may be new as an artist and what you will find in my gallery is a very unique style of art. I draw inspiration for paintings through spirituality and reading books. I deeply believe in a higher power and how all of us human beings are the minuscule spawns of this greater power that runs the universe!
What is this page about?
Here I will be sharing my paintings with in-depth descriptions and how I thought of painting a particular subject, by sharing the journey of creating with the help of this blog. I love making oil paintings that possess a deeper understanding and expression of our universe in my own twisted and unique way. I will also be reviewing and sharing the significance of the art topic which I have painted. I usually paint in small painting size of 16”x20” inches, medium painting size of 24”x36” inches, and currently 1 large painting of 3×4 feet. I will soon be posting in-depth analyses and observations about my paintings over here. In the meantime feel free to browse my paintings which are up for sale and follow my page on Saatchi art.
the 8th Dimensional Bijutsu store.
Enough about me let’s talk about my shop. My art store is called 8th Dimensional Bijutsu, You must be wondering why it is such a long and complicated name am I right? Well, the origin of this name is completely original which I came up with after 2 weeks of brainstorming and researching about art store names online. Though it doesn’t roll off the tongue easily the meaning behind the name significantly outweighs its cultural and scientific essence. I got the inspiration to name my store through the love and admiration I have for science and Japanese culture. When I refer to Japanese culture I am talking about their ethics, mannerisms, respect, and of course art! I grew up watching a lot of anime as a kid, and I was and still am mesmerized by how beautifully the characters and effects are drawn and brought to life on a screen! Watching these amazing characters come alive before my eyes was the most awe-inspiring thing for me. It was not just about watching the shows for entertainment but understanding the morals and reasoning behind the protagonist’s motivation and dedication to achieve their goals was captivating and inspiring for me. You must be wondering why I’ve gone off the rails and started babbling about anime in an art blog, let’s shift the focus a little.
Science What is science? From what I was taught in school ” A bunch of stuff never used in real life by anyone”. Yes like most of us I was not a big fan of the science subject in school because it was difficult for me to wrap my head around theories and lessons, the definitions were my biggest enemy because they had to be ‘exact’ from word to word! As a matter of fact, I was a backbencher in school though somehow I managed to graduate to get my commerce degree from Mumbai University in the year 2020. Currently, I am pursuing my MBA in 2023. I gained a minute and meticulous understanding and liking for science through watching educative videos on YouTube and TV. I am fascinated by Sci-fi movies and tv series which led me to find out more about words and concepts that came up in them, and was captivated to learn more about science theories and the workings of the universe. It is my weird compulsion to learn about everything and how it functions. I love the number 8 because it is the highest-valued single-digit even number. Also, let’s just all agree that it is very beautiful with its curves and intersection. It is funny how we all just skip past everyday items, words, and letters without giving it a second thought. It is quite fascinating that even everyday things can have beauty in them, the only thing missing from discovering it is a little bit of time, thought, and perspective. Number 8 also signifies infinity when turned 90°. Dimensions, to our human imagination there could be infinite possibilities of dimensions existing at a single fraction of time. I read a lot of books based on science and have learned about dimensions, realities, multiverse, etc. Also, the word best describes the types of paintings I usually make. Now coming to the last one, the term ‘Bijutsu’ is pronounced as “ bee-jutsu” and is derived from the Japanese language meaning Art. So the name naturally comes together as 8th Dimensional Bijutsu meaning Art from 8th Dimension.
